AI & Advertising Automation
4 min read
Smart bidding is a family of automated, machine-learning bid strategies that set each auction bid in real time to hit a goal you choose — a target cost per action, a return on ad spend, or simply the most conversions for your budget. Instead of guessing bids by hand, you tell it the outcome you want and it prices every auction against the odds of getting it.
It reads the auction context. Signals like device, time, location and audience are weighed the instant an auction happens.
It predicts conversion value. Each impression gets a live estimate of how likely it is to drive your goal.
It prices the bid. It bids up on high-value opportunities and down on weak ones, automatically.
It optimises to your target. Across many auctions it steers the account toward your CPA or ROAS goal.
Target CPA. Aims for a set average cost per acquisition.
Target ROAS. Chases a set revenue return for every unit of spend.
Maximise conversions. Spends the budget to win as many conversions as possible.
Maximise conversion value. Optimises for total value, not just count, when conversions differ in worth.
Real-time reach. It reacts to auction signals no manual bidder could process in time.
Goal-aligned spend. Budget flows to the auctions most likely to pay off.
Less manual tuning. It removes the daily grind of hand-setting bids.
It needs conversion data. Thin or delayed conversions starve the model of signal.
Less direct control. You steer with targets, not individual bids, which takes trust.
Target realism. Too aggressive a CPA or ROAS goal can choke delivery.
Mind the learning period. Give it time to settle after big budget or goal changes.
