Reddit Ads MCP Server

Connect your AI assistant to Reddit Ads through OpenAds to research, analyse and optimise campaigns — with every change held for your approval.

What is the Reddit Ads MCP?
The Reddit Ads MCP Server is an integration that connects your AI assistant to your Reddit Ads account through OpenAds, the AI advertising control layer. Using a single secure Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection, tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex can research subreddits, read live campaign metrics, propose new campaigns and draft optimisations — all in plain language. Reddit is a uniquely community-driven platform where intent hides inside conversations rather than search queries, and OpenAds gives your AI the structured access it needs to work that context intelligently.
It matters because Reddit Ads rewards nuance: the right subreddit, the right tone and the right interest targeting can separate a campaign that resonates from one that gets downvoted into irrelevance. OpenAds lets you move fast on analysis and ideation while keeping a firm hand on spend. Every important action — launching a campaign, shifting budget, pausing an ad group — is separated into analysis, proposal, approval and execution. Your AI can recommend, but nothing reaches your account until you approve it.

What you can do
Analyse performance
Ask your assistant how any Reddit campaign is tracking and it reads live metrics — impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, CPM, conversions and spend — then summarises what is working. It can compare community targeting, break down performance by ad group, and flag whether your cost per result is trending in the right direction against your goals.
Research keywords & audiences
Reddit targeting runs on communities and interests rather than search keywords. OpenAds helps you explore relevant subreddits, interest categories and audience segments, weighing reach against relevance so your ads land in conversations where your product genuinely fits — not just where volume is highest.
Find wasted spend
Your assistant scans for the quiet drains: communities delivering impressions but no clicks, ad groups with a high CPC and thin conversions, or creative that has fatigued. It surfaces each candidate with the numbers behind it and proposes pauses or reallocations for you to review before anything changes.
Create campaigns
Describe your objective — awareness, traffic, conversions or app installs — and OpenAds drafts a full campaign structure: objective, community and interest targeting, budget, schedule and ad group layout. The draft arrives as a proposal you can refine in conversation, and it only goes live once you approve it.
Optimise & pace budget
OpenAds monitors pacing against your budget and proposes adjustments — shifting spend toward the communities driving results, easing bids where costs are climbing, or throttling ad groups running hot early in the month. Each change is a recommendation with a rationale, never an automatic override of your account.
Generate reports
Ask for a weekly summary, a client-ready recap or a deep dive on a single campaign, and your assistant produces a clear report with the metrics that matter and a plain-language narrative. No spreadsheet wrangling and no dashboard hopping — just the answer, ready to share.

First prompts to try
"How did my Reddit campaigns perform over the last 30 days?"
"Which communities are spending the most with the lowest CTR?"
"Suggest five subreddits to target for a developer-tools product."
"Draft a conversions campaign with a ₹50,000 monthly budget."
"Where am I wasting spend this month, and how much could I save?"
"Propose a ₹2,000 daily budget split across my three best ad groups."
"Compare CPC across my traffic campaigns and flag outliers."
"Build me a weekly performance report I can send to my client."
A complete workflow example
Objective: Reduce wasted spend on a conversions campaign without losing volume.
User prompt: "My Reddit conversions campaign is over budget and results feel flat. Find what's wasting money and propose fixes."
What OpenAds analysed: It read 30 days of metrics across every ad group and community, comparing spend, CPC, CTR and cost per conversion against the campaign average.
Findings: Two communities accounted for 34% of spend but only 6% of conversions, with a CPC well above target. One ad group's creative had fatigued, its CTR halving over two weeks. A third community was converting efficiently but capped by a low bid.
Proposed actions: Pause the two draining communities, refresh the fatigued creative, and reallocate roughly ₹18,000 of monthly budget toward the efficient ad group with a modest bid increase.
Approval step: OpenAds presented each change as a discrete proposal with its supporting numbers. Nothing executed automatically — the user reviewed the list, approved the two pauses and the reallocation, and deferred the creative refresh for a redesign.
Result: Only the approved actions were executed. Projected wasted spend fell by an estimated ₹18,000 per month, redirected to the community already delivering the lowest cost per conversion — with a full audit trail of what was proposed versus what was run.
Best practices
Give your assistant clear objectives and target costs so proposals are grounded.
Review community and interest targeting carefully — relevance beats raw reach on Reddit.
Refresh creative regularly; Reddit audiences fatigue quickly on repeated ads.
Approve changes in small batches so you can measure their impact cleanly.
Schedule regular report prompts to catch pacing issues early in the cycle.
Safety and control
OpenAds draws a hard line between read and write actions. Reading metrics, researching communities and generating reports happen freely, because they never alter your account. Every write action — creating a campaign, changing a budget, adjusting a bid, pausing an ad group — is held at an approval checkpoint. Your AI proposes the change with its rationale and expected impact, and only your explicit approval moves it from proposal to execution. This separation of analysis, proposal, approval and execution is the core promise: the AI does the heavy lifting, you keep control of the account.

Limitations
Reporting reflects Reddit's own metrics and is subject to its data latency and attribution windows.
Creative assets such as images and video still need to be produced and uploaded by you.
Some niche or newly launched Reddit Ads features may not yet be exposed through the MCP.
Audience and community research informs targeting but cannot guarantee performance outcomes.
