X Ads MCP Server
Social
Connect your AI assistant to X Ads through one secure MCP connection to research, create and optimise campaigns — with every change held for your approval.

What is the X Ads MCP?
The X Ads MCP Server is an OpenAds integration that connects your AI assistant — ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or Codex — to your X Ads (formerly Twitter Ads) account through a single secure Model Context Protocol connection. Instead of clicking through Ads Manager, you brief your assistant in plain language. It reads live campaign data, researches audiences, drafts campaigns, models budget changes and prepares reports — while every action that changes your account is held for your explicit approval.
This matters because X is a real-time, conversation-led platform where timing, keyword targeting and creative relevance move fast. Manual management means constant tab-switching and slow reactions; fully autonomous tools risk spending your budget on decisions you never saw. OpenAds keeps the useful middle ground: the AI does the analysis and proposes the moves, but the separation of analysis, proposal, approval and execution means nothing touches your live spend until you say yes.

What you can do
Analyse performance
Ask for a read on any timeframe and OpenAds returns spend, impressions, engagements, link clicks, conversions, CPM, CPR and cost per result across your X Ads campaigns. It highlights which promoted posts, objectives and audiences are pulling their weight and which are drifting, so you can see the story without exporting a single CSV.
Research keywords & audiences
X buyers care about keyword, hashtag and conversation targeting as much as demographics. OpenAds researches relevant keywords, follower look-alikes of accounts your audience follows, interest categories and tailored audiences, then estimates reach and competitiveness so you can prioritise the segments most likely to convert.
Find wasted spend
The assistant scans for keywords driving clicks but no results, audiences with high CPM and low engagement, and creatives whose relevance is decaying. It flags each as a candidate to pause or reallocate, with the numbers attached, so trimming waste becomes a reviewed decision rather than a guess.
Create campaigns
Describe your objective, audience and budget and OpenAds drafts a complete X Ads campaign — objective, funding, targeting, bid strategy, schedule and promoted creative structure. The full draft is presented for your review; it is never launched automatically.
Optimise & pace budget
OpenAds tracks pacing against your daily and total budgets and flight dates, spotting campaigns that will overspend or underdeliver. It proposes bid adjustments and budget shifts toward the best-performing audiences, with the projected impact shown before you approve.
Generate reports
Ask for a weekly, monthly or campaign-level report and OpenAds assembles the metrics with clear commentary on what changed and why — ready to paste into a client email or deck, in the currency and cadence you need.

Getting started
Sign in to OpenAds and open the integrations directory.
Select the X Ads MCP Server and choose Connect.
Authorise access to your X Ads account through the secure OAuth flow.
Pick the ad account and funding source you want the assistant to work with.
Set your approval preferences so write actions are held for review.
Once connected, link your AI client of choice. ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex each attach to the same MCP endpoint, so whichever assistant you prefer can research, propose and report against your X Ads account through the identical secure connection and approval flow.
First prompts to try
"Show me last 14 days of X Ads performance by campaign and flag anything overspending."
"Which keywords are spending but not converting? Propose a pause list."
"Draft an engagement campaign for our product launch with a ₹2,00,000 total budget."
"Research follower look-alike audiences similar to our top three competitor accounts."
"Where is my ₹5,000 daily budget being wasted this week?"
"Propose bid changes to hit a ₹40 cost per result on the traffic campaign."
"Build a monthly report for the awareness campaign with commentary."
"Reallocate ₹15,000 from the weakest audience to the best performer."
A complete workflow example
Objective: lower cost per result on a website-traffic campaign without cutting overall volume.
The prompt: "Our X traffic campaign is running at ₹65 cost per result against a ₹45 target. Find the problem and propose fixes."
What OpenAds analysed: the assistant pulled 21 days of data across keywords, audiences, placements and creatives, comparing cost per result and click-through by segment.
Findings: two broad keyword audiences were consuming 38% of spend at a ₹110 cost per result, while three interest audiences were delivering results at ₹38. One creative had a declining engagement rate dragging CPM upward.
Proposed actions: pause the two costly keyword audiences, shift ₹12,000 of daily budget to the three efficient interest audiences, and refresh the fatigued creative — with a projected blended cost per result of ₹43.
The approval step: OpenAds presented each change as a discrete item for you to accept, edit or reject. Nothing executed until you approved. You approved the pauses and budget shift and deferred the creative refresh.
The result: the approved changes were executed against X Ads, and the assistant confirmed the new pacing and scheduled a follow-up read in 72 hours.
Best practices
State your target metric — cost per result, CPM or cost per follow — so proposals are measured against it.
Review pacing at least weekly; X moves quickly and budgets drift fast.
Approve changes in small batches so you can attribute impact cleanly.
Keep two or three creatives per audience live to counter engagement fatigue.
Use audience research before scaling spend rather than after.
Safety and control
OpenAds draws a hard line between read and write actions. Reads — pulling metrics, researching audiences, modelling budgets and building reports — run freely because they never change your account. Writes — creating campaigns, adjusting bids, shifting budgets, pausing or launching — are always held at an approval checkpoint. You see exactly what will change and its projected impact before anything reaches X Ads, and you can edit or reject any item. This separation of analysis, proposal, approval and execution is the core promise of the platform.

Limitations
OpenAds proposes and executes changes but cannot guarantee platform outcomes; results depend on market, creative and auction dynamics.
Capabilities are bounded by what the X Ads API exposes; some niche settings may still require the native interface.
Creative production is not automated — the assistant references and structures creatives but does not design assets.
Approval checkpoints add a deliberate human step, so time-critical changes still depend on your response.
Frequently asked questions
Does OpenAds change my X Ads account automatically?
No. Every write action — creating, pausing, bidding or budgeting — is held for your explicit approval. OpenAds analyses and proposes; you decide what executes.
Which AI assistants can I use?
ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and Codex all connect to the same secure MCP endpoint, so you can use whichever you prefer with identical capabilities and the same approval flow.
Is my X Ads data secure?
Access is granted through a secure OAuth connection and a single MCP layer. Read actions never alter your account, and write actions are gated behind approval, so nothing changes without your sign-off.
Can it manage multiple X Ads accounts?
Yes. You select the ad account and funding source during setup and can switch between connected accounts, keeping each one behind its own approval preferences.
What happens if I reject a proposal?
Nothing is executed. Rejected items are discarded and your account stays exactly as it was; you can ask OpenAds to revise the proposal or take a different approach.
Connect it through one secure MCP connection.
